Portfolio - Improvement

Over the past two years, I have improved on my righting skills a lot. I can seriously say that I love righting and proud to have learned as much as I have. When I first entered my first year of high school I was completely horrible at righting. I did not know the proper punctuations and were they belonged in a sentence. I was always righting run on sentences and never actually put periods anywhere. Now as a sophomore entering my junior year I have learned proper grammar and I am able to grade other people’s paper besides my own. I am also capable of using bigger vocabulary words and actually knowing what they mean. I improved in my righting skills by practicing on paper, games like free rice etc, and my teachers/staff help. When I entered high school for the first time I did not only have a problem with righting but also with reading. When I arrive I had to take a reading to test to see were I was at. When I took that test and found out my score I was a little disappointed because I had a low score. My reading skills have got much better as the time passed. I noticed I was able to read much better and comprehend what I reed if I reed to myself. I improved my reading skills and scores by taking a reading support class. Now I can read at a twelfth grade level. My speaking skills were definitely not the best I also needed more work and help. In order to improve them I started to take a little program on the computer called Rosetta stone which helps me speak English better and understand what others were saying and meant. When I finished the program I was able to understand and say everything correctly. My group skills have always been good. I have always been able to work with people and cope with them. Sometimes I strongly believed that working in groups for certain assignments helped me a lot more then doing it all by myself. My group skills are still the same, they haven’t changed. I enjoy working with peers because it makes the job much easier and it gets it done faster. My technology skills were not the best. When I entered my first year of high school I already knew the basics like how to type an essay and make a power point etc. Now that I have had more time to work with computers I learned about different ways to create things and make them fun. I learned plenty of new things that I did not know existed with technology. I even learned about cyber safety which I was never aware of. For the rest of the two years I have left in high school I will be making sure that I keep improving on my skills. I will keep on asking questions and even researching sometimes.

Portfolio - Future

I feel nervous about my future because I am scared that I will not graduate in time or simply just not graduate at all. The reason I feel this way is because I was behind in school and I feel that I need to work harder then half the students on this campus. Missing five years of school was not something I expected to happen but actually getting an education wasn't either. My goals for the future are to improve even more on my grades and to keep up the hard work. One of my main goals is to reach a 4.0 by the beginning of my senior year or earlier. My main thing to make sure I achieve these goals is to always keep trying and never give up. I also make sure that I don’t let anyone tell me that I can’t do something when I know I can. An after high school goal I have is to attend a music school like Berkeley. I have been able to achieve other past goals for example when I wanted to achieve a 3.0 or higher GPA. By the end of my third quarter of sophomore year I received an award for accomplishing a 3.5. The goals I have planned out for me are not going to be easy and are going to take plenty of hard work and dedication but I am willing to put in the effort just so I can pursue my dream and make not only myself proud but the little family I have left. I will have to make sure that I continue to complete all my assignments and ask for help if I need it. I know that I am going to need help during this process so for that I will make sure I ask my residential staff, teachers, houseparent’s and peers for help in order to achieve these goals that I have set for myself. I genuinely believe that I will achieve my goals because I am a very determined young lady who never gives up and seeks for more.

Playwrights Project Play Performance Paragraph

I feel accomplished after completing my playwright for Playwrights Project. I feel that all that hard work payed off and I ended up with a incredible play. I feel like I never really accomplished much in my early child hood but what my mom expected me to do. For once I felt like I was doing something for me. I felt like this was a way to get my real life story out in the open for others to hear. During the first year of high school I felt like I was slaking off and procrastinating on all my work. As I entered my sophomore year I started to care more about my grades and understand that I have a long life ahead of me to just give up on my work.Being able to express myself and share a part of my story was a great experience. Not only the fact that I was able to share it with others that might be in the same situation but being able to wright it on paper,letting others visualize it and the hardest part of all letting it go.

End of Year Reflection – Greatest High School Achievement

My greatest high school achievement was receiving a 3.5 through out the quarter and keeping it at that GPA. I was extremely proud of myself because I didn't think I was going to be able to do it. I worked so hard and would bug my teachers a lot about what grade I had in the class and what I had to do to raise it and make it better. I think that my teachers would get frustrated sometimes because I started taking my grade really serious. I remember crying on one of my main projects for my English class because I thought I didn't do well. Ms. Priester told me I did great and not to cry so I stopped. Achieving that GPA made me think more positively and try and rank higher. I know I can do it if I put my mind to it.

Portfolio - My Educational Experiences

Due to my educational experiences, I am currently improving each day that passes. I am a very unique student in my opinion because I missed 5 years of school. I was able to catch on fast and keep up with every other student in my present school now. I never finished third grade and skipped all grades until I finally attended the seventh grade. This affected my education completely. Moving from school to school did not make my situation any better when I was able to attended school. It was not only stopping me from learning but it was also very unstable. When I came to San Pasquale Academy I thought I was going to move again and I was not going to last here but now I am entering my junior year and have been completing every work assignment and making sure I ask people for help.

End of Year Reflection – Greatest High School Obstacle

The biggest obstacle I had to overcome was getting back into the routine of going back to school. It was difficult to get back in to school because I missed five years of school. The reason I missed five years of school was because I was living with my mom in Mexico and she wouldn't let me go. She would tell me that going to school was a privilege not something I need to do daily. Not going to school affected me in every way possible because I was not able to read or wright in English. It also affected me in my social life because I never had friends or acquaintances so I did not know how to make any. When I entered school again I was not sure what I had to do or learn. Missing so much school motivated me to try harder in everything I do and make sure I complete every assignment. As well as to never give up on anything.

Playwrights Project Play Completion Reflection

I feel very accomplished with myself because I completed my play just in time. I am very glad that I completed it and did not procrastinate or not turn it in at all. Before I got to San Pasqual Academy I noticed that I was not so punctual with things and getting things done right on time. Even during my freshmen year I was not as worried or concerned. I started to care more about it as the beginning of my sophomore year kicked in and further on. I am very proud of myself because I know I can finish what I am doing at the time and right now high school is my priority and I am going to finish and graduate. By finishing this play and graduating I want to be able to show my family I can do anything I put my mind to and I can follow through with anything. I am super excited and looking forward to watching professional actors performing my play including my fellow classmates. I believe that all our plays are great!

SPA Prom 2011 or Free Write

This weekend I attended my high school prom in the Hotel Del Coronado. I started to get ready at around 3pm . My softball coach Sarah came to my house straight after work and put my hair up in curls. After I got my hair done for about an hour I headed up stairs and was ready to get my makeup done by a staff. She did a great job at it. I loved it because I looked so pretty. After getting my hair and makeup done I put on my dress, shoes,jewlery and whent to the bus that was waiting for those who were attending prom. Everyone looked amazing in there dresses and tux. We all got on the bus and everyone was so excited as we drove off to the hotel. We arrived at our destination around 6:30 and took pictures in a grass area. It felt really akward walking next to other people who were just statying there. After the pictures we whent to the ball room and hung as until it was time to serve our dinner. The food was delicouse but the meat was the best part. I had a great time dancing with my friends and house parents. For the ending of the night I sat down and watched everyone dance. I had a great time and enjoyed myself a lot.

Field Trip

I attended a field trip with my Spanish class with Ms. Beedle. I had a great time because we got to learn new information and admire different places and things. It all started Thursday morning at 9am. I headed to the bus and sat with one of my good friends. We arrived at the JCCS county office and admired all of the beautiful art work that all the students created and completed in our art class. After a good amount of time that we spent there we went back to the school bus and drove off to the Contemporary museum of arts in La Jolla. We got to see a real huge donkey stuffed with something to make it look alive. We also saw some beautiful art made by real artists that made me feel like the art was alive. Everything was beautiful including the garden of statues. We took many pictures and posted them on facebook. I had the best time watching the seals in the water at La Jolla beach. Overall it was a great filed trip and I hope we have many more.

Welcome students! Today, I am going to teach you about things to remember in a research paper. Evidence is certain information to prove that the work you have done is true. For example when a student says that they were sick from school and the doctor excused them they would have to have proof. In order to know it was true they would have to bring me a note signed by a doctor or parent served as evidence that what the student said was true. You summarize evidence when your giving a brief description of something that occurred over a period of time. To summarize you use fewer words to explain something. For example instead of telling the whole story in details and extra sentences you would tell the story in a shorter period of time. You quote evidence when you are trying to strengthen your point of view. To use a quote occurs when something is being said by someone. For example " Ms. Priester told me to right a paragraph" Joel said. You paraphrase evidence when you are retelling a story to an audience. To paraphrase you give a brief description of the events that happened. To help you remember this, you should verbally review the definitions and examples that I have mentioned earlier.

Comment-Seeking Post

Today I had at 3:30 softball game here at San Pasqual Academy vs. Guajome Park. It was not as bad as I expected it to be. There was a lot of girls on the team including myself who were really nervous about this game but in the end ended up having fun. I realized that when I think negatively about something I don't do as well. Sense I turned my attitude around about the whole thing I was able to take a couple of the girls on the opposite team out. I was also able to hit the ball and send it to the outfield. I was really proud of my teammate Chanda hit the ball and hit a beautiful home run. I was so proud of our team because they all had fun and just played the game even though we knew we were not going to win this game. Over all I had a great time and I am looking forward to playing my next game.

CST Testing Reflection

Today I finished taking the last test which was based on science. I seriously hated this whole week of testing. It was so long that I really do not want to go through it again next year.The first day of testing was ok because I got to take my English test with my favorite teacher Ms. Priester. The next day I was very happy because I did not have to test so all I did was stay in the gym With coach Burgo and play some basketball. Unfortunately the following morning I had to test in biology and World History. I really hated taking the world history test because I seriously strongly dislike the subject. I believe that it is the most boring subject that can be taught by a teacher. At the same time I its hard to try and learn it when I don't want to! Over all this whole testing week was very long. I was very exhausted at the end of every session and day and thinking I had to do it the next day made it worse. I am pretty confident that I did a great job on my tests. I am also sure that I have improved compared to my freshmen year test scores. I am looking forward to my results.

Testing Tips, Strategies, and Plays Reflection

Comprehending and being able to know tips, strategies, and plays helps a student out on testing because the testing can be done much quicker with no hesitation. For example before taking the test the teacher or person giving out the test reads some instructions of tasks that must be complete. If a student were to not listen to the instructions that he or she has expressed the student can mess some sort of information like the number to the booklet or the wrong information in the wrong place. Another example is when teachers or people giving the test let the students know that they have a certain time limit. Certain students are slower then others and may not finish in the time that was set causing students to rebel and complain about how they are not done. A great strategy for this type of situation would be starting a little earlier then others if possible. There are many ways tips, strategies, and plays help students out on testing and the one's mentioned above are not even half of them.

My Feelings about the Upcoming CSTs

I am a little nervous to start the star testing but also very excited. according to my calculations I always feel a little nervous but this is the first time I've ever felt excited about testing. The reason I am feeling excited about taking these tests is because I feel that I have progressed sense my freshmen year here at San Pasqual Academy. I believe that my grades have increased tremendously. I also believe that I have learned plenty of the material that is on the tests that we are going to take. I always feel nervous when it comes to seeing the test right in front of me because I feel like I forget all the material that I have gone through and learned. Right now at this very moment I am still nervous but I know that when I start it I will feel accomplished.

Today I am going to wright about my weekend starting with Friday. On Friday I was ready to finish the school day. I feel like it went pretty slow actually especially because it was hot. When school was over at 12:50 I had a Key Club meeting in the career center. The whole group gathered up and talked about future plans and then ate a lot of pepperoni/ Hawaiian pizza. After that I basically spent the rest of my day home and rested. On Saturday morning I woke up around 9am and started getting ready. I curled my hair and put some nice clothing on and headed out to my boyfriends house. Saturday was also Family Day so my boyfriend and I went to the clinic and watched the talent show. All the students that participated in the show did and outstanding job! Later on that night I went home and got ready for a night party in the auditorium. I had a great tie dancing with my boyfriend and my friends. I had a great time over all this weekend.

Playwrights Project Inspired by Music Paragraph

In class today, we had to write three scenes that we could imagine while listening to three different instrumentals. While listening to the first song I wrote about a young girl named Ishmaely stranded in a deserted island. The song brought sadness and loneliness so I wrote that the girl was by herself next to the water ready to stand up and head to sit up on a rock. For the second song I wrote about a 17 year old girl who was escaping her house every night to go sell her body to drunk men. This young girl was only trying to support her mom because her mother had no money. The reason I wrote about this was because it was the first thing that automatically popped up in my head as the song finished. At first, I was not really looking forward to doing the assignment because it took imagination and I really though I wasn't going to be able to do it but then the imagination came out really easy. While listening to the music, I came up with more then one story but I feel I chose the one I wanted to be heard. While I was writing, I I felt like I was able to describe in detail what was in my mind and I also felt like I could actually see it all happening. Afterward, I felt great because I found out I can actually wright a play and my stories would be great to listen to.

Third Quarter Awards Review

Today I attended a San Pasqual Academy awards assembly in the auditorium during 5Th and 6Th period. The awards assembly was held in order to acknowledge students with certain high GPA's. It was also held in order to recognize the great job students have done not only in academics but also in being great role models and behaviors outside of school. I was one of the students who received a award along with a 25$ check because I was able to keep a 3.0 through a 3.5 GPA. Receiving that award made me feel very proud of myself and let me know that hard work does really pay off in the end. I was also happy to see the friends of San Pasqual add an award to recognize the students that are welcoming and open to them when they come visit us. Over all I had a great time and I am very proud that Joseph B. and Yajaria O. are representing our sophmore class as students of the quarter. I am looking forward to the next assembly and recieve another award.

“Switch” Play Audience Member Experience

Today all my sophomore class and some juniors attended a field trip. This field was held in downtown, San Diego at 11am. I had a great time because I got to watch a group of people act out different situations in which foster youth are put in. They did a great job acting each and every situation out especially when the new family had arrived to pick a child up because the mother could no longer support him. I was able to relate to many of the scenes but overall the one that touched me the most was when a young girl named "Swipper" was singing happy birthday to herself. As I watched the actor play that role I remembered when I was in that situation and sang happy birthday to myself. After the whole play the whole group gathered and ate some pizza. We later on took group pictures and headed back to spa. Overall the play was great and hope to see another one again.

P.S Thank you Ms. Priester for taking us all and I am not looking forward to leaving your class after this quarter!! At all!!!!!

Fourth Quarter Kickoff Reflection

I had a great time at forth Quarter kickoff! I was already happy because school did not start until 9am that morning. All the students entered school at 9 am and were sperated into 6 groups. We started our first period by heading to the tech center and watching a movie and answering some questions. Then we re-wrote our goals for the 4Th quarter. Following we had a raffle and I won a bag of cookies and a water bottle. After 1st period was all the groups went to lunch. After lunch was over my group and I headed to the football field and played some water games! Of course we won first place! After a good 30 min. playing that we headed to the softball field and played some fake softball with waffle balls. It was pretty fun as I got to hang out and talk to my friends. After playing waffle ball my group and I went to the gym and played a game involving volleyball's, jail, and plenty of running. Over all I had a great time with my friends and playing these games. I am definitely looking forward to doing this again.

Fourth Quarter Goals

My greatest achievement for last quarter was receiving straight B's on my progress reports and staying off of 2 hour. In order to acquire this goal I made sure I completed all my work, worked really hard to get everything done and mainly make sure I completed the assignment on time. MY goal for this quarter is to pass it with more then B's. In order to do that I'm going to do triple the work and make sure I do more then what is expected of me on it. I am also going to make sure I stay on top of my work and make sure I complete every single assignment that way I have no missing work to do in the future. Last but no least ask teachers for help if I do not understand something that way they can help me and I will do a good job on my work.

What I Learned in the Third Quarter of English 9/10

Through out the whole time in third quarter I learned many things. The main focus was poetry. For this years poetry we the students had to prepare a lesson plan and teach it to our fellow students. I got to experience being a teacher and created a lesson including the following a warm-up, Classwork assignment that lasted 30 minutes and a homework assignment. I also learned about personification and all the points of view. For example First person point of view, second person point of view and third person point of view. I also learned about primary and secondary sources and what there differences and comparisons are. At this time I am creating a portfolio demonstrating that I have learned the correct material.

A sad tragedy occurred in Vietnam. A young soldier named Billy Boy Watkins experienced a heart attack. This young man was only 21 and past away on April 13, 1968 at 4:32am. Billy was afraid because he lost one of his foot in a land mind. He thought that day was the end of his life but truth was Billy was stressing a lot about his foot that lead him to a minor heart attack. His death brought a lot of pain to his friends and family members. Billy Boy Watkins will be truly missed by everyone who new him.

Primary and Secondary Sources Comparison

Primary and Secondary sources are very similar because it is two main places were people in general gather all there information to rely to other people. Primary sources are normally hand written essays, letters, autobiography's about someones life etc. Secondary sources normally mean a person wrote it but was not there to witness the situation. Secondary source examples are celebrity magazines, biographies, newspapers, books,articles etc. Primary and Secondary sources are great to know for many good reason. If someone needs to back up a topic that they are talking about they can look up important information that they can use. It's important information and it's good to know that one has resources.

CAHSEE Reflection

Today I took the CAHSEE Test. I am not going to lie I am pretty scared to see the results. I was very nervous because I know that I do not take a math class at the time there for it was going to be hard for me to take the math portion tomorrow. Over all I believe I did a pretty good job on writing my five paragraph essay. It was a scary experience and I hope I passed it. I had a huge brain fart when I was trying to think of ideas it was kind of funny. I decided to take a break and came back and finished my test. It was great and I really hope that I as well as the other students who took it passed. I can't wait for my results.

“American History” Memorable Day Paragraph

Once upon a time there was a little 12 year old girl. This little girl had long hair was very skinny, light skinned and bruised up. Her name was Bella and she lived in Tijuana. Bella had to deal with her mother beating her everyday and receiving new bruises on her body. She could never keep track of her bruises until one day her whole body was bruised there was no spot clear enough to say it was not bruised. In the year 2007 her grandmother Celia Perez died. Bella and all her family including her sisters Grecia and Ayneeth Lomeli attended. Bella was left in the funeral place with some of her aunts and uncles on purpose. Bella did not notice until one of her aunts woke her up asking her if she was hungry. Luckily her sister Grecia was there and took her to her great grandmother's house. Bella had a great time with her other family because she was not used to being out of her house. When it was time to take Bella back home her mother was waiting for her in the garage. Bella's sister stayed outside with her fiancée while Bella went inside. Bella's mother yelled at her and said what time was it to be getting home and that she no longer lived there. Bella freaked out and did not know were she was going to go. Her mother yelled at her and told her to call her sister in order to pick her up. Bella left and Grecia told her fiancée to take Bella to her big sister Ayneeth. He obeyed her and took her to her sister. While on the ride in order to get to her sister Bella's mother was calling him in order to take her back home he refused and ignored all her calls. Bella and her big sister Ayneeth stayed 3 hours trying to pass the border and made it through. From there Bella was left with a foster parent because her sister could not take care of her. Bella entered the foster system once again she is currently 16 year old and has not been out of the foster system since then. . The reason I remember this day is because it's the day I no longer had to see anymore new bruises, cuts or scars and I no longer had to suffer. It was the day my sister saved me from my mother and the day my grandmother Celia Perez Aranda died.

“Where Have You Gone, Charming Billy?” Enlist Paragraph

I would never enlist in the military because I don't like being away from my family and friends. I would be upset to find out that something bad happened to one of my family members while I am not home with them. I want to be able to be there for my family and take care of them not leave for months and not be able to see them and hope there OK. Another reason why I would not enlist in the military is because I don't think I would have the guts to risk my life for people I do not know. I would only save my own family and protect them from harm. the last reason why I would not join the military is because if I was in it I can be drafted away. If I was for any reason join the military it would definitely not be for killing purposes and if one is drafted is to fight and participate in wars. I would refuse the minute they tried to send me from there I would spend some great qualities time with people behind bars. These are my 3 main reasons why I would not join the military.

Feelings about the CAHSEE

I am very nervous to take the test because I do not have the best test scores and missing all the school I missed I am afraid to not pass. I had been informed that I was not going to be taking the test this year until next year when I am officially a junior . I was kind of irritated about not being able to take it because I knew I had all my credits up to date so far. I had Ms.Priester double check and I ended up finding out that I was to be taking it the 8Th and 9Th of this month. I am very scared because I know that my math skills are not so well. I have this feeling that I am going to pass everything else but the math portion. I also know that I have to pass the math part so I'm scared that if I do not pass the math portion I will be asked to take it again. Overall I know I will do well thanks to Ms.Priester's help on all the English portions.

Persuading You to Read a Blog

Commenting and taking the time to look at a students blog means a lot to a student her at San Pasqual Academy. By receiving a comment on ones blog a student may obtain more motivation to do a better blog post then before. For example sense freshmen are transitioning from middle school into high school these may not realize that there writing skills may not be all that great. Student need to be informed in some sort of way that they need either to revise there blog which may consist of checking their grammar, rephrasing sentences etc. What better way then to let them know by checking out there blog post that students post continuously day after day so they can improve in their writing.

"The Legend" Paragraph.

After reading "The Legend" the point I believe the author was trying to make is that life is not always fair but there should be hope. For example people can work super hard for something they really want but it may not always pay off. The guy mentioned a story being told by his aunt while baking. They mentioned how in the universe the stars separate two lovers but one day when the sky is clear the stars open up and let the lovers be together. The basic point is what happens on earth all the hard work we put into everything we do it will pay off in the afterlife. Our reward will come after all the struggles we went through.

Sophomore Paragraph

Being a sophomore is being one step closer to adult hood. It also means a step closer to being older and growing up which includes being mature. As a sophomore preparing to enter 11Th grade our state of mind should be at a higher level then any underclassmen. Understanding that academics should be ones main focus if we want to be successful is also a main part in all throughout high school. Sophomores may look up to juniors and seniors but must always set an appropriate and responsible role model for freshmen. When hitting sophomore year one learns many lessons throughout the year but it's all part of growing up and moving forward. As a sophomore I have learned to mature and leave the baby stuff in a box. This is high school and my academics as well as myself have changed throughout time.

Today was an ok day because school to me was not as interesting as it normally is. Boys and girls basketball teams had a basketball game vs. Saint Joseph Academy Crusaders. Our basketball senior girls had there last game of the season. The lady dragons put up a good fight to win that game but in the end we lost. On the other hand the boys basketball team played as well they tied at the end of the forth quarter. Leading to overtime the boys lost by 2-3 points. They were all devastated when they found out they were done and were not making it to play-offs. I felt bad for them because some of them cried. Both boy and girl basketball teams tried there best did a great job. I loved playing this year and I am definitely going to miss our seniors especially our point guard but I am looking forward to next season. Great job everyone!

Reflection paragraph

Today I enjoyed teaching my 5th period class. I believe I did a great job going around explaining the lesson plan for Ms. Priester's class. I made sure I sounded loud and clear and I made sure the students completed the class work which was a graphic organizer. When it was time for the students to get to work I made sure I went around the class and assist any student who did not understand what to do or needed help. I appreciated getting the opportunity to teach and experience what teaching is actually like. I had a guest reader come to the class and read. She did a spectacular job reading the poem. Creating the lesson plan was not as easy as it seamed but in the end it worked out and I enjoyed the experience.

Memorable Valentine's Day

I have never really had a memorable valentine day. I am not very used to celebrating it just because I never really had a valentine before. When I was like 5 and I was in Kindergartner I remember making little card for my aunt in class. I had a great imagination when I was young. I remember cutting little shaped hearts and putting glue on them and sticking them on a color background paper. I was always excited to give it to my sisters and aunt. I knew they appreciate it very much after all I was a little girl.

The emotion that "I am Offering This Poem" by Jimmy Santiago Baca expresses is love. For example in the story the line "all I have to give,and all anyones needs to live" is demenstrating that love is what one needs in there life. With out love from family and friends the people would not have any sort of support. Causing one to feel depressed or alone and in many cases lonley. One needs conforting and the warmth of one another. With out love then what is life. It would be impossible to be a happy person without noone in one's life.

I do not think looking good is a priority. I believe that looking good should be something one should want to do out of one's self and not to impress someone else. They should do it to feel good or because they simply feel like it. Many people like to look good in order to fit in with certain social groups. They also can try and dress nice or good in order to impress someone they like. I believe that it is worth putting effort into one's appearance when they have an interview for something or they are trying to get a job etc. They can also put a lot of effort into one's self if they just want to look nice in general. I strongly dislike the fact that people like to dress in order to impress other students or people because that is not there true identity. I also believe people should just dress how they want to dress and who cares what other people got to say it's our life.

"Heart! We will forget him!" Paragraph

I believe that the narrator talk to her heart as a human being because she needed to talk to her own heart in order to believe herself and listen to what she was saying. Her relationship was probably not the best and obviously did not turn out how she wanted. Personification is when a person or thing is typing a certain idea or quality. The one way I can relate to this poem is the fact that I have talked in my head to myself when I like someone. If I know I cant be with that person or that person is not right for me then I can get over him.

Imagery in a Song

The song I chose that represents imagery and has a strong meaning to me is " Como una flor" by Selena. The songs imagery is based on a beutiful red rose compared to someones love. The delicate soft peddales that I am able to touch remind me of his soft face when he is near me. The perfumed smell that I can smell across the room reminds me of the cologne he wears as he walks straight to me. The taste of his lips with mine when he kiss me with the minty flavor. When I see him walk to me I can tell he cares and smiles as he makes his approach. Every time I hear this song I feel like expressing my feelings to that one special guy.

“A Storm in the Mountains” One with Nature

I was in my room resting my body on with my eyes closed. It was 12am and I could not sleep at all. I was only 12 years old and I was left alone on that cold cold deserted mountain. Noone was around and I was left with not enough warm clothing. the storm was horrible I could see it coming. It was freezing cold the rain was stronger and stronger every moment it hit my skin. I could hear the roar of the thunder coming down so strong that almost caught so many things on fire. I was afraid I could smell the little grass and mudd. I could reach a hand out and feel the rain touch my skin and run down my arms. The experiance changed me because it taught me that I should not want to be alone in the mountains. It also taught me that I do not want to be in a storm that strong without the right equipment.

Paragraph to Persuade You to Read My Poem

The name of my poem is "Grape Sherbet" written by Rita Dove. I believe that students should read the poem because it was a really good poem. It's meaning is very strong and demonstrates the feelings towards deceased family. Someone might not want to read this poem because it can bring up sad memories and how they miss there loved ones. The best part of the poem was when they explained the feeling about how she loved his ice-cream.

I really liked the poem I chose regarding the now. The imagery in " Crystal Cascades" makes one feel peacful and wanting to go to the snow more often. For example in the poem the line "Turnning my cheeks pink" appeals to the sense of sight and it creates a sensational feeling twordes the white cold snow. Another example would be " Softly falling, falling not a sound in the air" which is the sense of hearing. This sense makes one feel lonley as if there were no one left in the world but ones self. The use of imagery helps describe feelings because people can describe themselves to others through images and certain words mentioned.

My dream house is an nice small house. I see a 2 bedroom house with a small kitchen with a bar set. I also see a nice living room with a plazama t.v and nice leather couches. I can taste sweet blueberry muffins straight out of the oven set on the kitchen counter. My chairs are sooft as well as the couches. I smell the airfreshner all over the house. I also smell the perfume on my clothing and my husbands cologne as he walks right by me to give me a kiss. I hear the people across the street and bycicles passing by. I will make sure I graduate from school and have a great job inorder to get my dream house.

Third Quarter Goals Reflection

My goals for this quarter is to make sure to stay off of 2 hour and get all my work done. As well as ask teachers for help in my education as well as personal life issues. I have been turning in all my work and asked my fellow peers and staff if they can help me when I do not understand something. I also have been studing for test more latley in order to achive a good grade. In order to keep my grades up I use sports as a motivation. I do have to remember to prioritize because I am a bussy teenager and very active I have to remeber to do my work. I expect to feel proud of myself at the end of the quarter knowing that I stayed off of 2 hour and achieved atleast a 3.0.

Poetry Experience Paragraph

I really enjoy reading and listening to poetry depending on the feeling being expressed behind it. I understand that poetry is a way of expressing peoples feelings on paper if they are not able to express the words out loud. For example anger,love, friendship, hatred, hurt, intimacy, family etc. I personally have written free verse poetry which does not necessarily have to rhyme in order to express what I have been going though lately or think at the moment. I have learned poetry by listening to peoples poems or read poems by certain writers for example Shakespeare. I wright poetry when I am hurt, I do not do it intentionally if I am hurt and I feel like no one is listening to me a grab a journal and right. At the end when I read it to myself I end up seeing it rhyme. Poetry to me is a way of expression a way to let everything out like pain, secrets, feelings for others etc. I hope to learn many more ways that poetry can be used. I look forward to listening to different poems and mixed emotions and maybe how to be a better poetry righter.

Symbolism and Allegory Unit Reflection

Over the past few weeks my class as well as I have been learning about symbolism and allegory. I learned about symbolism in many different ways for example our class was assigned a project called Glogster. Were basically my partner and I had to create a poster with 3 pictures and quotes. This assignment was based on our story that we had just finished reading called " Through the Tunnel." Our poster was to show that we understood the story and its perspective as well as to make sure we new what the symbolism of the story was. For example when we added a picture of rocks and water the picture symbolized when the young boy came out the water and a gush of blood came off his goggles. On the other hand I also learned about allegory. I learned about allegory by reading certain story's for example my classmates and I just finished reading "Animal Farm." My classmates and I had to complete a paragraph regarding the story and how it compares to the real world. We had to explain the allegory in the story which was when Snowball was chased away caused by rumors that 2other individuals had made. Here at San Pasquale Academy students can peer pressure student and give them a hard time in order for them to not want to resign here anymore.

Animal Farm to the Real World

In the story Animal Farm Snow Ball puts out the idea to start the revolution and finish what Mr. Old major had started. Yet on the other side Squelar and Napoleon descided to get rid of him. Snow Ball was chased out of the farm by all the animals. Squelar and Napoleon had tricked all the farm animals into thinking that Snow Ball was the enemie. In the really world certain situations are similar to this. For example here at San Pasqual Academy there has been situations were a studetn has issues with another student and one of the students is considered more popular and more known then the other. The student with most friends goes around spreading rumors in order to turn poeple agianst them. The student now is being eathier harrased or pressured and may be unable to handle the pressure and the instigating. Which may lead to change of placement in the end.

“Animal Farm” Revolution at SPA

If San Pasqual Academy were to loose it's control entirly Spa would be a reck. Students would not listen to the staff and fights would be in every corner as well as the place being a total disaster. One day the students decided to meet up in the softball field during lunches. Both lunch sestions had there meeting and officially had a plan.

I bealive that the dragon was used as our mascot because a dragon repsresnts a warrior which in our case is the warrior that is among each and every one of us. A dragon is a fighter it can symbolize many things. For example when a student resignes here at San Pasqual Academy they may come with many problems and they may be hurt as if they just came or finished fighting a war outside of here. Students have argument, fights or even witness viloence on there own which makes it a war out in the world. A dragon fights for protection and survival. It defends itself from harm and anything in its way. The dragon represents strength and fighting till tthe end.

"Through the Tunnel" Foster Youth Initiation

Even though they don't have to swim through a tunnel like Jerry in "Through the Tunnel" by Doris Lessing, foster youth are initiated out of the foster care system. When we are in the system foster youth get everything for free. It is donated from people and the kids do not have to worry about paying for clothes,food,electronics etc. When kids enter the system they majority of them are left with nothing. They have no family to reach out to and they got to mature faster. As a result of initiation foster youth have to be ready to be on there own which includes paying there own bills,getting a job, and continuing school (college).

I find it convinsing that Jerry whent through the tunnel and surrvived because he kept practicing and practicing until he made it through. For example he got his mother to buy him goggls in order to go under water without the water hurting his eyes. He also when and practiced going under water no matter how much his nose bled. Jerry never gave up and kept trying. In the end he ended up going to the end of the tunnel and descided that was not important anymore.

When I was 11 years old I was living with my mother in Tijuana. It all happened at around 5:30ish. I was getting ready to pick up the mess my brothers had made. My mother came in and got mad at me for not picking it up earlier. So she whent into my sister Grecia's room and through her stuff on the floor. My mom took my sisters engagment ring then came out and said that she was going to tell my sister that I stol it and that I made the mes in her room. Minutes later my sister walked in and I paniced. My mom told her exactly what she said she would. I tryed to explain to my sister that I didn't but she would't bealive me. Grecia didn't bealive our mother would be capable of doing it. My sister was mad and I couldn't prove to her that I didn't do it and I wasn't lieing. Back then I felt really hurt because my sister didnt bealive me. Now that I look at it I learned that sometimes I got to expect the unexpected and that people are going to eventually show there true colors.

House Symbols

A circle symbalizes our house which is girls 8. To most people ,this item is just a circle. To us it represents unity because all of us stick together no matter what happenes. We get into so many arguments and fights but yet at the end of everything we always work it out and go back to normal. There's so many reasons why a circle is the shape for us. We can go through tough times and not have anyone in the outside of our house understand or listen to us but in our house we take the time to listen to each other and share our feelings. We have come a long way and our journey is not over. We bealive that our house is strong and we will keep moving forward no matter what happenes between us. We will always be there for each other and no one can seperate us.

Third Quater goals

My greatest accomplishment of 2010 was completing all my major assignments and getting them all turned in on time. I made sure my essays and my projects were good and ready to be graded. It was not very difficult for me all I had to do was ask staff,peers, and teachers for help. I also double checked all my work and had my staff remind me about what I had to turn in. With all the help I received I was able to get all my work done. I also made sure I kept focused and did to my full potential.

My goal for this quarter is to achieve a 3.0 or higher. Through out my freshmen year I was capable of keeping a 3.0 before I started procrastinating. The way I would achieve this goal is by keeping up with all my work, asking teachers,staff,and peers for help if needed, and last but not least working to my full potential and turning everything in on time.

Winter Break Narrative

The celebration I participated in was actually this New Years Eve. I celebrated this New years with students and staff on this campus. Kim the Rec therapist threw a party for us in the students cafe. It was really fun because we got to hang out and eat together. We also got to listen to music and dance as well as interact with each other. I had lots of fun and I got to enjoy myself with my house mates. It was 6:30 and I was ready to head out. I put all my things away and whent to the cafe. After being there for a while we had a dance competition. Auggie beat all the guys and Pearl beat all the girls. Then we kept dancing until it was 11:59....and the countown started 10,9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Happy Ney year! is what every one yelled out as the clock striked 12. We all gave each other hugs and kisses. After 5 minutes we all headed home. It was the best night ever.
